About Tau Sigma Theta

Tau Sigma Theta, Inc. was locally founded by five dedicated women on May 26, 2012, in Prairie View, Texas. The founding members Catrina Burks-Seals, Te T’aime Burks-Green, Tabitha Burks, Carassia Seals, and Alisha Seals were united by a vision for advancing the lives of educated women. They were determined to establish a new organization that departed from traditional coalitions for African-American women and was grounded in the values of scholarship, service, sisterly love, and Finer Womanhood. In May 2012, the idea was brought to life as these women came together to create a non-traditional Greek sisterhood. The interest group was formed after a year of dedication, perseverance, and patience.
